Built for martial arts. Properly accredited. Genuinely not for profit.
Martial Arts Done Right exists to give every instructor, club and association access to the kind of professional, properly regulated services that used to be locked behind association membership.

Established 2020. Trusted by instructors across the UK.
Martial Arts Done Right is not an association, and we are not an insurer. We sit deliberately in the space between the two, which means we can offer independent, professionally accredited services without the politics, the governance requirements or the membership fees that come with a traditional association. You get what you need and nothing you do not.
We are a Community Interest Company, which means every surplus we generate is locked in and reinvested. Not into shareholder dividends or director bonuses, but into building a better platform for the clubs we serve, developing new services, advocating directly to insurers on behalf of instructors, and improving access to qualifications and compliance tools that were previously only available through large governing bodies. We are industry leaders because we chose to invest in being exactly that.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Is Martial Arts Done Right an association or a governing body?
No. We are not an association, a governing body or an NGB. We are an independent provider of insurance, qualifications and compliance services. You do not join us, you do not owe us allegiance, and we will never tell you how to grade your students or run your club.
Are you connected to any martial arts association?
We operate as a separate social enterprise within a wider group that also operates in the martial arts sector. We share governance, accreditation and infrastructure, but MADR is independently operated and you do not need to be a member of any association to use our services.
Who regulates you?
We are a Community Interest Company, regulated by the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies. We are also ISO 9001:2015 accredited via the British Assessment Bureau under UKAS accreditation, and registered as an Introducer Appointed Representative with the Financial Conduct Authority.
Are you genuinely not for profit?
Yes, in the proper legal sense. As a Community Interest Company, we are legally required to reinvest any surplus for community benefit. This is not a marketing claim, it is a legal obligation enforced by an independent regulator.
Do I need to be a member of anything to get insurance through MADR?
No. There is no membership fee, no association requirement and no grade verification. You register, select the cover you need, and pay for that cover. Nothing more.
Who underwrites the insurance?
All policies are underwritten by AXA XL, one of the world’s leading specialist insurers. MADR is registered with the FCA as an Introducer Appointed Representative in connection with this.
What styles are covered?
We cover more than 200 martial arts styles and disciplines including contact and weapon-based styles. If you are unsure whether your style is covered, get in touch and we will confirm before you purchase.
What happens if I need to make a claim?
Claims are handled directly with AXA XL. We can support you through the process and point you in the right direction, but as an independent provider we are not the insurer and cannot accept liability or interpret policy terms on their behalf. Always read your policy wording in full before purchasing.
Can I insure students through MADR without having my own instructor insurance here?
Yes. Instructor and student insurance are separate products and can be purchased independently.
Are your qualifications nationally recognised?
Our qualifications are delivered through a CPD accredited framework, and we are registered on the UK Government’s Register of Learning Providers. Our safeguarding qualifications are compliant with the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts.
Do I need a qualification from MADR to get insured through you?
No. Insurance and qualifications are entirely separate. You are not required to hold any MADR qualification to purchase cover provided you can meet the insurer’s terms and conditions.
What is the difference between MADR and an NGB for qualification purposes?
An NGB issues qualifications tied to their specific membership and governance structure. Our qualifications are independent, CPD accredited and do not require ongoing membership with any body to remain valid.
Can associations or groups register on behalf of their members?
Yes. We work with associations and club groups who want to provide insurance and compliance services to their members through a single registration point. Get in touch to discuss how this works in practice.
Is registration free?
Yes. Creating an account in the MADR portal is completely free. You only pay when you purchase a specific product or service.
How do I get help if I have a question?
You can reach our team by chat, phone or email. We are a real team, not a chatbot or a voluntary outfit. If you have a question about a product, a claim or anything else, get in touch and a real person will respond.

Sector Alignment
We don't tell you how to teach.
We do make sure what we offer is fit for purpose.
MADR is not a governing body and has no interest in becoming one. We will never assess your grade, question your syllabus or tell you how to run your club. What we do is make sure that the insurance, qualifications and compliance services we offer are built against genuine national standards, independently accredited, and aligned with best practice across the sector. The organisations below represent the standards and frameworks we measure ourselves against.
Your club's compliance, sorted in one place.
Creating an account is free and takes two minutes. Once you’re in, you can explore the portal, check what’s available and get set up at your own pace. No commitment, no pressure, no association membership required.
