          Terms Of Instructor Insurance

          Our instructor insurance is specially arranged and managed to offer you tailored martial arts instructor cover which runs with membership. In order to obtain competitive prices from our specialist underwriters and brokers, and to protect all of our other members who have instructor insurance under our association’s group cover policy we insist on a couple of key requirements before we can offer you instructor insurance. Please take a look at the following conditions to ensure you’re OK to continue;

          > If appropriate, you must hold a valid and acceptable DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check (or equivalent) conducted to the appropriate level. There is a 28 day grace period on the policy which will allow you some time to start an enhanced application should you not already hold this.

          > You must hold a relevant grade or qualification to instruct the style(s) you name on the cover note. This must be a 1st Dan Black Belt or equivalent (where no Dan grade or grading structure exists). We will not ask for proof of grade today.

          > You must have suitable first aid training and, if required, be able to demonstrate proof of this training.

          > We can provide cover for the use of weapons during classes, provided there are no live blades used. All training weapons must be in a good state of repair, and checked prior to use. A risk assessment must be in place for the use of all weapons and training involving weapons and only relevant weapons are to be used in line with the qualifications or experience held by the instructor.

          > You must follow your own association guidelines and regulations in relation to conduct, standards and eligibility criteria. We (#MartialArtsDoneRight) may issue some key guidance and requirements from time to time too. This will be communicated in writing alongside your insurance confirmation documents within the #MADR Portal. You must remain compliant with this guidance.

          > You must be able to agree to our organisation's terms and conditions, and conditions of membership, which are viewable at checkout or from martialartsdoneright.org.uk/legal.

          > You must ensure that suitable safety equipment is used at all times during lessons, classes and events and a fire risk assessment must be conducted on all premises used for lessons/events and fire evacuation procedures made clear. There must always be a qualified, DBS checked (where required), first aid trained #MADR instructor in the club at all times.

          > You must confirm you have not been declared bankrupt, or have not had any other insurances cancelled in the past.

          > Contents insurance will not cover any singular items worth more than £1,000 unless this has been cleared with the association in advance. No cover will exist for any equipment or supplies left overnight in any vehicle. Proof of purchase will be required if you need to claim under this cover.

          Please ensure you’ve seen the policy documentation (available from the above link) and understand the policy’s cover in full before proceeding. We’re on hand to help if you have questions. Insurance with #MADR membership is not something that should be purchased and forgotten about. Like all insurances, there are certain on-going requirements and we will keep all members abreast of this via both the #MADR Portal and the #MADR Hub. It is your responsibility to login from time to time to check for updates or new requirements/guidance notes.

          > We won't ask for proof of any of the above requirements or competencies as we are not acting as an association or Governing Body however you will need to provide relevant proofs in the event of a claim along with a 21 point check-list. Full confirmation of what this is can be found in the MADR hub under the Help & Support Section. Please check this as soon as possible after cover goes live.

          > Once active, all insurances with enrolment are strictly non-refundable under any circumstances.
