Let’s start by saying this loud and clear; we’re not against associations or NGBs. We think they do an excellent and important job and fully support (and actually recommend) that everyone join a credible association.
There are, however, two things we don’t like;
- Larger Associations effectively binding clubs to them because of the affordable price they can provide insurance for, or the need to run Enhanced DBS checks on their instructors and volunteers. Clubs shouldn’t be forced to join or renew with an association – they should choose to.
- Smaller Associations who deserve new members and renewals through their ethos, ethics and care toward their members missing out because they don’t have the funding or size to afford and run large group cover insurances and instructor training programmes etc.
In both cases, #MartialArtsDoneRight can step in and balance things out. We provide professional services – such as insurance (both instructor and student, as well as club and Association), qualifications, first aid training, DBS checks and so on. Everything is professional, well-serviced and very affordable.
Our hope is that this will open the martial arts market up in the years to follow. Clubs can choose an association that deserves their business based on the way they conduct themselves and the support they can offer.
What’s more, we’re a not for profit so every penny of profit we generate is sent straight across the Fighting Chance Charitable Foundation to help make a difference using martial arts as the catalyst for change.
